Artifact is a full-service creative agency; our team of award-winning producers, directors, designers, editors, and composers shepherds projects from initial idea to final delivery. We're here to tell stories, and for over 15 years we've created video content for some of the world’s best-known brands and entertainment properties.
David Grabias is the founder of Artifact and an award-winning documentary filmmaker. His latest film is OPERATION POPCORN, which was funded by PBS and the California Humanities Council. This feature-length documentary unravels the stranger-than-fiction tale of a Hmong-American businessman who faces life in prison for plotting to overthrow the Lao government. Previously, David produced HBO’s KORAN BY HEART, which profiles several devout Muslim kids on their way to Cairo for the world's oldest Koran reciting contest. For PBS, he made the Emmy-nominated SENTENCED HOME, which followed three Cambodian-American men as they went through the deportation process. Other film credits include the Emmy-nominated WHY DOGS SMILE for Discovery, UNCOVERED and CENTRALIA for PBS, HARD TIME and FIRST TIMERS for National Geographic, and the indie doc THOSE WHO ARE IN LOVE.
For the Annenberg Space for Photography, we created this video to promote THE YEAR, an exhibition featuring images from one of the most prestigious photojournalism competitions in the world. Each photograph tells a story about its subject and its photographer. Artifact went behind the lens to create content built around interviews with the photojournalists about their medium.
